Sprouts!

Each day we took the seed pellets out into the sun so that they could get enough sunlight to grow.
On Friday morning we we very excited to see that some of our seeds had already started to germinate and we had little sprouts poking through the soil!

Student of the week - Jayme-Leigh

We have all been working hard to help our reader visualise when they read our writing by showing them details rather than telling them. Jayme-leigh has been doing a super job of this and her writing has been a real pleasure to read. Great work Jayme-Leigh!

Cooperative games with Rory

One of our activities was to transport a ball around the gym without using our hands and without letting it touch the floor. Check out all the different methods that we tried to get the ball around.

Fat Man Splat!

This morning we had heaps of fun playing cooperative games with Rory, our sports activator. We played a great team game called 'Fat man splat' where we had to run at the blue mat and splat onto it, trying to move it as far forward as we could. When we got the mat to the end of the gym the whole team had to come together to drag the mat back down to the other end of the gym again. Rory timed us and the team that did it the fastest won. We had so much fun. Check out our videos to see how cool it was

Look At Our Garden Grow!!!

Easy Blog Photo

We are studying plants on room 4, so we are going to grow some veggies for the school garden.
Today we planted our veggies.
First of all we put all of our 'grow pellets' into seed trays.
Then we had to add water to them so that they could expand.
When they were expanded they were like a little bag of soil, perfect for growing seeds from.
We had to make a little hole in the top of our seed pellet which we dropped a seed into.
Then we gently covered the seed up with a bit of soil.
We each planted three different seeds. We chose from broccoli, lettuce, radish and tomato seeds.
Each of the seeds has a different germination period. (Germination is when a seed changes into a plant.)
The radishes only take 4-10 days. The lettuce and the broccoli take 7-14 days and the tomato plants take 14-21 days.

Now we have to take special care of our seeds so that we can observe the changes. Our seeds will need water and sunlight so that they can grow.
We will keep you updated as the changes start to happen.

A special visitor

Charlotte brought her 8 week old puppy, Niko, in for a visit to the classroom. He was a little bit nervous. We loved to see him and he is certainly very cute.

Seasons Art - Trees through the seasons

We were looking at the colours of the seasons and how a tree would change over the four seasons of a year. We thought about what a tree would look like in winter, all dry and bare. Then we thought about the blossoms of spring and the bright green grass. Then we decided that in summer the trees would be full of fruit and be very green and leafy. Our autumn trees were covered in brown, orange and red leaves, and we chose and orange background. See what you think or our art work.

Student of the week - Arnika

Arnika has been working realy hard in numeracy all year. She is always focused in the new strategy and keen to be better than the day before. At the moment she seems particularly focused on learning how to find fractions of a set, and she is using her times tables and knowledge of division to help her. Keep up the terrific work Arnika!!

Student of the week - Kade

Kade has an a terrific start to writing in term 4 and he is working really hard to add lots of details and descriptions to his personal recount writing. He is also working really hard to 'show' his audience what he is writing about, rather than 'telling' them. Keep up the terrific writing Kade,
