The Old School Room At The Lawrence Museum on PhotoPeach
Today we went to visit the Lawrence Museum. They have an old school-room set up which has furniture from the late 1800's. Mrs Goodlet talked to us about the number of small schools that there used to be in the Tuapeka District. She explained that there needed to be a lot of schools because the only way to get to school was walking or by pony, so there needed to be a lot of schools so that children didn't have to walk too far. It was a great opportunity to sit at some of the old desks, look at the old map, once used for Geography, see the slates children wrote on and see an old headmaster's strap.
The museum was intrestig but i would of hated to get the strap.-Hamish
