Statistics Investigations

To finish off our statistics unit for mathematics, each student created their own question that they wanted to investigate, gather the data for and present to the class.

Some students had time to also create different types of graphs with their data using Google Spreadsheets.  Check out what they found out.....

Te Aroha found out that the most popular device for Room 4 students to own is an iPod.

Oakley discovered that 8 o'clock is the most popular bedtime for Room 4 students

Bryce discovered that Room 1 and 3 go to bed earlier than Room 4.

Josie found out that netball and rugby were the most popular sports for Room 4 students.

Regan found out that while most people in Room 4 have a TV, there are only some people who have devices.

Aaron's pie graph shows that Room 4's favourite junk food is definitely lollies!

Alyssa compared Room 3 and Room 4's favourite outside of school activities.  She found out that in Room 4 playing sport and using devices were the post popular.

Ryan's investigation showed that most of Room 4 go to bed between 7.30pm-8.30pm on week nights.

Clifton found out that Ben Smith was the favourite All Black for most of Room 4 and Room 7.  Can anybody figure out why????

Ryan's second graph shows that alot of Room 1 students go to bed at 6 o'clock.

Isla's investigation compared pocket money in Room 4 and Room 7.  She found out that most people get no pocket money.  The next most common amount of pocket money is $5.

Anna's double bar graph shows the bedtimes of Room 1 and 3 students.  The most common bedtime is 7 o'clock.  We wonder if the Room 1 student was right in saying that they went to bed at half past 8!

Toby was keen to prove that he needed a device at home.  His investigation showed that iPods were the most common device owned by Room 4 students.
