Descriptive Writing - Sunset

Today we continued to use Google Docs for our writing. We wrote with a new buddy today, but we were still working on the same skills. We have to choose interesting and exciting words to make our writing more appealing. Some of us used a thesaurus today to help us change a word that we had already used, or to find a better word than the one we were using. These are our sunset descriptions:

Descriptive writing

We have been working on a few things in writing this week. The first thing we have been doing is working in a shared documents on our google accounts with buddies. This is quite new, especially for our Year 3's, but we are loving the new challenge.
We have been writing descriptions with a buddy, and our challenge has been to use precise vocabulary, so we need to choose interesting words that make our writing more fun to read. These are our forest descriptions.

Student of the week - Luca

When we come back to a new school year after the holidays it is always exciting to see who will step up as leaders and role models in our classroom. It has been wonderful to see that Luca is up for this challenge and she has already defined herself as a real leader in Room 4 this year. It has been lovely to see her be so helpful and kind to all of our new class members. Keep up the great work Luca!

Student of the Week - Katie

It has been wonderful to welcome our new Year 3 students into Room 4 this week, and it has been great to see them settle into some good routines and work habits so quickly. Katie has been a shining example of this. It seems like she's been in Room 4 for ever, and she is producing some terrific work! Keep up the great effort Katie!

Room 4 are becoming 'Lifelong Learners'

This morning we started to talk about what it meant to be a lifelong learner. We decided that it meant someone who learns all their life, right from the day they're born until the day we die. We discovered that we started learning when we were a new baby, by crying when we were hungry or when we needed a diaper change. We think that learning follows this pathway:

  • Baby
  • Toddler
  • School Kids
  • High School Kids
  • College / University / Polytech / Sports Academy / On the job training
  • Learn at our job
  • Courses
  • Living Life and learning from the people around us
Because our school goal is for us to be 'lifelong learners who are motivated, confident and willing to contribute' we thought we should talk about what those things meant for us in Room 4.

Motivated
  • eager
  • being ready
  • organised
  • prepared
Confident
  • strong
  • brave
  • risk-taker
  • goes-for-it
  • stands up tall
  • proud
  • believes in themselves
  • has a 'can-do' attitude
Willing to Contribute
  • listening
  • sharing our ideas
  • help others to learn
  • being a good class/school member
We can't wait to continue our journey as 'Lifelong learners'.
