Shining Star - Anna

The Shining Star is a very special award presented at junior assembly to students who have demonstrated some lovely characteristics.
We were VERY proud to see Anna win this award last week for her helpfulness and leadership at the Sports Extravaganza. These are qualities that we see all the time in Anna, so it was lovely to see them recognised by other people. Congratulations Anna - this award was well-deserved!

Symmetrical insects

For maths we have been learning about symmetry. We drew symmetrical insects today. We had to make sure that the drawing was symmetrical and so were our patterns and colours.

Student of week - Caitlyn

This week we have been doing a LOT of testing and everybody had their reading tests with Mrs May. Some people had to do more than one, which showed they had made progress. Caitlyn had to do six! Which meant she had made LOTS of progress and she has now shifted up to a new reading group! Great work Caitlyn.

More time lapse photography

We decided to have another go at using time-lapse to record the germination of our seeds. We were surprised to see how small the change was overnight, compared to the night before, but we have figured out that yesterday the seeds had no sunlight (because it was raining all day) and they had not been watered. It clearly makes a difference to how quickly the plants change and grow. Check it out.

While we were sleeping

This is a time-lapse video of our plants germinating overnight. It goes dark while it is dark, but it is fascinating to watch. We are going to try this again, so keep watching for further updates.

Sprouts!

Each day we took the seed pellets out into the sun so that they could get enough sunlight to grow.
On Friday morning we we very excited to see that some of our seeds had already started to germinate and we had little sprouts poking through the soil!

Student of the week - Jayme-Leigh

We have all been working hard to help our reader visualise when they read our writing by showing them details rather than telling them. Jayme-leigh has been doing a super job of this and her writing has been a real pleasure to read. Great work Jayme-Leigh!

Cooperative games with Rory

One of our activities was to transport a ball around the gym without using our hands and without letting it touch the floor. Check out all the different methods that we tried to get the ball around.
