It's a hold up!!!

On Wednesday we were invited to be a part of the fun and games of the 2018 Cavalcade. We dressed up as cowboy bandits and blocked the path of the riders so that they had to stop. We shouted out the chant and pointed our carrots at them in a threatening manner until they got off their horses. Then Cassidy rode in on Dora (a very menacing looking pair) and robbed all of the riders of their gold.
It was so much fun, and we raised $169.40 for our school camp.

Check out our video here, to see how it all unfolded and to hear our Cavalcade-stopping chant.

Sports activator - athletics

Today we had Gemma come in and take us for athletics. She had heaps of cool activities for us to do that will help us with the skills we need for athletics day.
It was awesome to have Eve's Mum as our sports activator, she did a great job!!!!

The caterpillars are changing!!!

Today we noticed that our caterpillars were behaving differently. They began the day by eating like crazy!!!
Then they stretched out into long J's, and they hung upsode down for most of the day. From time to time they would have a bit of a wriggle or a stretch.
We noticed that they had attached themselves to the underside fo the leaf by a white sticky thing.
Two of our caterpillars had already turned into chrysalis' during the weekend, so we missed out on see this part of the process.
After school, while Mrs May was waiting for class information meetings she managed to catch the action on video. Check out exactly what happens as a caterpillar turns into a chrysalis.

Caretakers of the caterpillars

Jared's Mum brought in a swan plant that was covered in teeny tiny baby caterpillars. We were allowed to look after them and watch them grow.

Waitahuna Swimming Carnival

Waitahuna Swimming Carnival 2018 on PhotoPeach

On Thursday 15th of February, the Year 3's went down to Waitahuna for the swimming carnival. We started off by having our lunch, and then we got to have lots of fun doing races and activities in the pool.

Student of the week - Annabelle

This year Room 4 are trying to have more 'student agency', which means we are more responsible for our own learning. We have a selection of reading activities to choose from and complete. Annabelle has taken to this new concept really well and has loved the chance to choose her own activities and she has completed them all to a very high standard. Great work Annabelle.
