Moving into new territory
Hi Parents and students of Room 4,
Today we move into some uncharted territory for our learning, so I thought I would resurrect our Room 4 blog, which has been a trusty measure in sharing online information in the past.
Bookmark this page on your computer, and visit it for updates and links,
Together we will get through these times of uncertainty,
Kindest Regards
Mrs May

Science in a van
Mixtures. Reactions. Explosions. What a fascinating start we had to our Wednesday. What do you think we were learning about in Room 4 this morning? We were visited by Emily and Allan from science in a van this morning, and they captivated our interest with their incredible science experiments. They taught us about forces, and they taught us about bubbles.
Allan showed us how to make bubbles using a mixture he had made. He made small bubbles. He made enormous bubbles, he made even made bubbles inside bubbles. He filled bubbles with the gas of dry ice, and they became heavy, and plopped down to the ground. He filled bubbles with helium gas and they floated all the way to the ceiling.
Emily taught us how to make predictions about what we might think would happen when she created a mixture. We had to think about whether they might separate, or whether they might have a reaction. Then we learned how to make observations, and talk about what we had seen happen.
There was so much fun science to get involved in, and Emily and Allan got us to talk, ask questions, make predictions, make observations...just like real scientists.
It was a fantastic way to start our learning, and we feel very lucky to have been a part of science in a van.
