Camp 2017 - Lunch at Mosgiel Park

Our final activity before heading home was lunch at the Mosgiel Park. We had a good play on all of the things before having chip butties for lunch, followed by fizz, chocolate and lollies! What a great end to a truly great camp. 

Thank you to all of the parents who came along, drove us around and helped us with all of our activities! We had a great time and its all thanks to you. XX

Camp 2017 - Moana Pool Swim and Slide!

We stopped in at Moana Pool for a swim and a slide. we also got to jump off the diving boards. It was so much fun swimming with all of the parents, and lots of kids had their first ever hydro-slide!

It was such a great way to blow off steam before getting in the cars and heading out of Dunedin . 

Camp 2017 - Scavenger Hunt

 Our final activity, before leaving the museum was a scavenger hunt. We had to search the museum to find answers to the clues we had been given. We headed off in teams. 

Camp 2017 - Butterfly House

On Friday morning we were up and ready to get going by 8 am, so off we went to the Butterfly house. We loved seeing the butterflies, the wee birds, the fish, the turtles and the tarantulas. 

Camp 2017 - Sleeping

 After a very eventful Thursday, it was time for bed. We set up our mattresses and pillows down in Discovery World and then we snuggled in for the night. Mrs May read us a couple of chapters of our class book, then it was time for sleeping - it didn't take long for kids or parents to be fast asleep. 

Camp 2017 - Death Masks

 After visiting the Mummy and seeing the death masks we went back to the classroom to create our own. It was so much fun to paint our own masks. 

Camp 2017 - Egyptian Mummy Activity

 After tea, we went upstairs to learn about the Egyptian mummy and the mummification process. Nick was our Mummy. 

 It was Austin's job to scramble the brains and then pull them out through Nick's nose.  

 The Skye came along and used a special stone to cut Nick open and pull back the skin, and cut his organs free. Then she took all of his organs out (except for his heart, which stays in his body.)

 Oscar and Oranje were the cleaners, and they gave Nick a thorough scrubbing. 

 It was Katie's job to put all of the organs into the special jars that would be put in the tomb with Nick. 

 Olive was the 'salter' - she sprinkled all of the salt over Nick to help dry out his skin and body. 

 Then it was time for Charlotte and Annabelle to start wrapping Nick up in the bandages. 

 Finally, Nick was a 'mummy'. 

 Then it was time to go and meet the real mummy. She is approx. 2300 years old.
