The Moa Cave - By Des Hunt - Book Review

The Moa Cave - By Des Hunt

The Moa Cave is about a boy named Tyler and who has won a trip with two other girls (called Hine and Mandy).
This is the story of their adventures, a mystery and a truth and dare game.
Tyler and Hine find themselves trapped in a cave with two little penguins.
This story has daring, devils, danger and little bit of love.
It is a great story for kids aged 7 - 20 years.
We really liked it because it was set in Otago, near where we live.
It is the kind of story that when your teacher gets to the end of a chapter you just want them to read MORE and MORE!!!

"My favourite part was at the end when two of them were in love." - Charlotte, KC, Ava, Livvy, and Issy.
"My favourite part was at the end when Hine did the dare to Tyler and then Tyler had to do it back." - Grace & Skye
"I liked it when they found that Grunty could not swim." - Austin
"I liked it when they escaped on the boat." - Angus
"I liked it when they sent out the search party looking for Hine and Tyler, but they didn't even come close to them." - Archie
"It was funny when Mandy fell in the seal pooh when they were playing the dare game." - Olive
"I liked it when they went to the cave museum 1 year later." - Katie
"I liked it when they found the second cave." - Emily, Jess, Chloe & Addyson
"I liked it when Mopsie got Hine's teddy bear for in the nest." - Annabelle
"I liked it when they found the Moa bones and a moa egg inside one of the Moa skeletons." - Aria and Oranje
"I liked the part when they swam with the dolphins," - Oscar, Addyson Hannah
"I thought it was cool when they smashed the diving gear and cut up the dolphin net." - Nick

"I love reading this book to my Year 3 & 4 class because they hang on every word. There are parts that they love and parts that scare them just a little...it is such a great book to read aloud - it will always rate as one of my favourites." - Mrs May

Book Review - Mr Stink

Mr Stink - by David Walliams

This is a really funny book that would be enjoyed from 7 years to 100!
12 year old Chloe becomes friend with a homeless man called Mr Stink.  He smells so bad that it is unbearable and off the scale.
Chloe decides to invite Mr Stink to live in the shed in her garden, and all sorts of crazy things happen as a result.
We read this class aloud in our Year 3 & 4 class and it was an absolute hit!!

Some of our favourite parts of the book were:
"I liked when Chloe was rude to the Prime Minister" - Issy, KC, Skye & Liv
"My favourite part was when Chloe met Mr Stink" - Katie & Annabelle
"I liked the bit when Chloe's mother gave her the exercise book with the story in"  - Emily
"It was funny when Mrs Crumb cried" - Angus & Nick
"It was funny when Elizabeth the cat got blown around the yard and landed in the pond" - Archie, Austin, Aria, Jess, Oscar & Chloe
"I liked the bit when Chloe got a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle stationary set" - Olive & Addy
"I loved it when Mr Stink told Chloe about his sad story" - Oranje & Charlotte
"I liked it at the end when they were talking about the stars" - Hannah
"I liked it when Mr Stink took a bath in the pond, and so did Duchess, and Duchess turned out to be a white dog!" - Mrs May, Ava & Grace
