Simile poems

Over the past week we have been working on writing and including appropriate similes in our writing, where we use the words 'like' or 'as' to compare two things.  We were encouraged to think creatively, rather than relying on the well-used similes such as 'He ran as fast as a cheetah'.
We then created our own simile poem about an animal of our choice.  

GREAT WHITE SHARK

Teeth ripping off chunks of flesh like a digger digging in the ground.

Skin as grey and rough as a rhinoceros.

Savage as a Dimetrodon.

Tail as strong as steel.

Mouth as wide as a whale shark.

Hooves as dangerous as a lion’s claws.

Mane as long as a 30 centimetre ruler.

Ears as sensitive as some people’s ears when they don’t like some earrings.
