Descriptive writing - A haunted house

This week we have begun to write some descriptions. We have been working on adding details so that someone else could visualise the picture that we see. Here are some of the pieces of writing.

Green, misty skies hover above the creaky, old building. A light is on at the top of the house and a raggy old curtain is hanging over the bright light. Old, dead spooky trees are secretly whispering to all of their surroundings in the windy night. The creepy old building creaks as if the wind will blow it over. An old clock quiet ticks along through the night. Spider webs hang from the lonely, forgotten building. Pointed rooves have tiny cracks in them and they wobble like they're going to topple over and fall to pieces. Grave stones wonder whether they're going to join the world or whether they're going to stay in this dark, lonely land. The mysterious house stand tall in the lonely night. - Imogen

Out of the dark a haunted house remains, standing by itself. In a window you can see a light on. Trees screw up the sky which is green and stormy. A clock is on the top of the tower. It is spooky and sculptures are looking like graves. Shadows and mud surround the house. - Amelia

A house built in the middle of nowhere. A shiny light burns inside the house. Creepy shadows are all around the house. It is a tall house that has statues around it. A clock is at the top of the house. There is a dangerous green stormy sky and a flood at the bottom. It's all on its own. - Lochie

Black, creepy shadows surround the haunted house. Old, dead, creepy trees are about to fall over. The light shines out into the dark. At the end of the house lays headstones covered in mud. Dark black, green, dangerous, scary clouds are everywhere. - Te Aroha
