Room 4's Awesome Camp - Egyptian Mummy and Death Masks

Our night time activity related to the Egyptian mummification process.  Special thanks to 'Sug' for volunteering to be our body to be mummified.  It was fascinating to learn about how and why the Egyptians went about this process.  Room 4 were rather 'grossed out' to learn that the dead person's brain was pulled out through their nose during this process!!!!!
Room 4 students had HEAPS of questions for Hannah and Ashleigh from the museum about the mummy in the museum.  We were surprised to learn that she died from a tooth abcess!  Not cancer, heart attack or a car accident as some of us guessed.
We then all created our own 'death masks'.  These were painted and decorated in a real variety of ways.  In ancient Egyptian times these were made to represent the features of the dead person, but luckily we didn't have to consider that as we had fun painting our own masks.
