Fonterra Milk For Schools

We are lucky enough to be part of the 'Fonterra Milk For Schools' programme where each Y1-6 student is given a carton of milk daily to drink.  Thankfully it is not like the olden days where kids had to drink warm milk - ours is stored in a fridge outside Room 6!  After morning tea the class messengers go and collect Room 4's milk and we have from 11am-12.30pm to drink our milk.  The only rule is that it has to stay on our desks.  This is so that nobody gets their milk cartons mixed up.
Some people like to drink theirs all at once, while others drink some during reading and some during writing.  After we are finished we have to follow the instructions carefully to fold the carton up for recycling.  It is VERY important to make sure that there is no milk left in the carton (as we have discovered!).  It makes a bit of a mess on our desks otherwise.

The last step is to put it into the blue recycling bin outside Room 1 when we go for lunch.
It has been great to see students enthusiastic about the milk and also those who were a little bit hesitant, persevering and trying to finish their milk each day.
What healthy kids we are in Room 4!
