Skateboarder wipes out - Quick Write

Today before we began our Quick Writes we discussed the different purposes for writing, some of which were to:

Room 4 students then tried to choose a new way to respond to our quick write picture.  We had a really impressive variety of responses - television reporters, newspaper reporters, diary writer, an explanation, poems, descriptions....  

Hits a rock, goes into the sky like a rocket launcher .Here comes a car at full speed ahead, smack!!! He rolls out of the way. But he may have a fractured hip and a split head and a split eye lid from the rock that he hit. The skateboard broke the glass of the car. He’s lucky to be alive - NOT REALLY.   - Blake

Dear Diary,

Today I saw the most wickedest thing ever. I was walking down Baldwin Street then out of nowhere a skateboarder came zooming down the steep hill.  He fell off then........Something happened ….............  - Rubie

Once upon a time a boy was riding his skateboard along the road. A big bunch of lions and tigers were zooming down the road. He jumped of his skateboard. He kept running and running. He fell over a  baby cub.  He fell frontwards, forward.  “Awwwwwww” he said.  “I better get up off the ground.” - Venessa

A skateboarder was racing down the hill, then Eden came zooming down the road. The skateboarder fell off and Eden did not see him and ran over his leg. She had a bump so she stopped and she called the hospital and then the ambulance came. He had crutches for one year and he had a big bruise for his whole life.  - Paris

An 11 year boy just fell off his skateboard skating down Ardrossan St on Monday. We don’t know who the boys  parents are. He fell off because he ran over a rock - Lucy

BREAKING NEWS:  there has been a terrible accident down in Dunedin.  An 11 year old boy has just catapulted off his skateboard, cracked his head open and turned the street into blood street. He was raced to Dunedin hospital.   Alesana

I had to persuade this man that a 7 year old boy can do a mans job. At last I am allowed to go up the ramp in the wind wipe out air wipe. “5 minute warning .“ Shouted a loud voice over the speaker. It is time to burn rubber. Later I know my opposition, Mike Man world famous number 1. “Now I am in trouble.” - Toby

On Friday morning a 17 year old boy was speeding along Clyde Street in Balclutha on a skateboard. Then around the corner came Mrs Alexander May, she was going over the speed limit so she never had any time to slow down and stop. Then she flattened the poor boy. Three days later Mrs Alexander May still remains in police custody for killing the 17 year old boy.   Reported by Kate Jopp   

On Monday  22 of May a 20 year old boy came zooming down Baldwin street on his skateboard and has  bad brain damage and broke  his left arm.  But no one had seen until a rima  year old boy was playing outside and saw him lying on the ground knocked out.  So the little boy ran inside yelling “MUM, MUM someone is lying on the road dead.”  - Lucie

An old man was skating down Baldwin street and he hit a pebble and went flying over his skateboard and KABOOM!!!  He hit the tarseal with a boom.  He broke his right arm, leg and ribs and to make things worse he got run over. “He is lucky to be alive” said the doctor. - Hamish

A twelve year old boy was skateboarding in the middle of the road. Toot toot.  I look out the kitchen window.  A car came racing and only just saw him and quickly went round . Then the twelve year old boy saw a lost dog walking down the street and forget what he was doing.   His skateboard flung up behind him and he fell off and broke his arm.    - Alyssa

On Tuesday afternoon a seventeen year old was speeding down Baldwin Street going so fast he couldn’t put his foot down.  When he was halfway down he fell face flat on the ground.  He had a broken leg. He is in hospital recovering and now he won’t ride on his skateboard without a helmet, knee pads or elbow pads.  - Samara

Luca is driving down the road . She doesn’t see Samara and by accident she runs over Samara . Samara has hurt herself  and she can’t get up.  Now  she is in the hospital . Samara is better now.  She is going to go on her skateboard  again but she is wearing  a helmet and arm pads and knee pads. - Lanie

You should always wear a helmet  knee pad elbow pads. So you don’t end up in hospital. If you go on a road always cheek the road and then you can go. But if a car is coming stay on the footpath.    - Ryan

“ Reporting live from Antarctica is Jessica Much.”

“ Good afternoon it was a chilly day today and I was going to Scott Base to report about a scientific discovery. As I was coming down Public Toilet Street a skateboarder crashed into me and accidentally pulled out all of my intestines and it was very painful. I’m in hospital trying to recover. The skateboarders name is Dan and he is 18 and here he is.” “ Don’t look at me - I am in pain, go away, away, away.”

I saw a person on a skateboard.  He was going down the road on Baldwin Street.  He couldn’t stop and there was car coming.  What should he do? He bounced off  the skateboard. He jumped up and said “I am fine but I have a sore leg so take me to Dunedin hospital.  Unfortunately he had a leg broken but it was all ok. - Jenaya

“This is Josie Wither reporting from Peel Street, Lawrence. This guy was skateboarding down Peel Street and lost control and fell off. He is in hospital with a broken leg, head damage and a broken arm. He will be in hospital, we think for about ten weeks.”  - Josie

 

Some crazy kid is riding down the road over a 60 meter jump.  “1, 2, 3, GO!” he said...just in one tick he flew over and landed on his head with no helmet and I get my camera and click goes the camera. Then an ice cream van comes zooming down Peel Street and runs into the boy...and here comes the ambulance - Emma

On Tuesday the 30th of July a 10 year old was going to school on his skateboard when it was dark so when he went down Whitehaven Street. He fell off and smashed his head on the concrete. He lay there for twelve hours until Konica Ponsonby came down the street to come and drop her kids off at school .She was going down at full speed when she ran over something bumpy. She realised that it wasn’t there when she came last. So she got out of the car and went and saw what it was.Then her jaw fell open. She just realised that she ran over a child with a skateboard and went to see if he was alright..... - Abby
