As part of our poetry writing unit, we learnt about the structure of haiku poems. We found out that they are a japanese form of poetry, usually about nature, that follows the format of:
Line 1 = 5 syllables
Line 2 = 7 syllables
Line 3 = 5 syllables
Here are our favourites that we wrote today...
Seashell Bees
Lots of collecting Yellow and black stripes
Pink, blue, purple on paua Makes yummy honey in hives
Seashells can be white Has painful stings, OUCH!

Dangerous to kids Comes after rain drops
They grow really fat and big Colours float across the sky
They go to the works Need some sun again

Yellow flowers bloom Ice hanging from trees

Kowhai is the best Schools are closed for snow

Stags have velvet skin Horses like to eat
